![]() Check out the keyboard bindings in the Options menu, so that when you get into the game, it is clear how you interact with the game (it isnât intuitive in VR. Now you can select things much more easily. Then everything in the game becomes much easier. That allows you to then use your VR headset to look at whatever you would like to select (and it will light up in orange) and click your mouse button. Then select âGaze-based pointingâ (with your joystick).Ħ. Then select âControllerâ (with your joystick, same as before).Ä¥. Currently, Subnautica can be played in VR through the Steam Launcher, the Oculus app, and the Epic Games launcher. This may take a little work⦠you have to move your joystick around until Options in highlighted in orange, and then pull the trigger.Ĥ. Look down and select âOptionsâ with your joystick. Load up Subnautica in VR and put on your headset and hold your joystick in one hand.Ä£. Third, in my experience, if you donât have an Xbox controller, it can be VERY hard just to get started. The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic. You need to play sitting down with your mouse and keyboard on your desk. Originally posted by IIJack-DanielsII: You should USE a Pad / Joystick in VR. You use a mouse (to look around 360, which is harder with the VR headset) and keyboard (to take actions and control your directions) or an Xbox controller. ![]() Second, you canât use your VR controllers. This makes the experience MUCH more enjoyable! Originally posted by Rhonu: Yes, I play it with keyboard and mouse + oculus all the time, works just fine if you have the muscle memory of where your buttons are. There are some other things you should also consider worth checking below: As mentioned earlier that I had one issue with the controls, and that is you cannot look up/down with the controller, and this caused neck issues when playing. That said, just starting the game in VR can be infuriating if you donât know how to do it.įirst, I recommend you install the VR mod. Again, try and boot Subnautica from your Steam Library and NOT in VR, as the VR enhancements will not load. Every icon is a new surprise, but at the end of the process, everything will happen to be mapped to the correct button.Subnautica is one of the best two games I have ever played, and the best in VR. The icon displayed in the menu here will be super messed up, but ignore that, just go through every single button, and press the button you want to be that button. Now, staying in the left column of the inputs, so you're remapping primary inputs, remap every single input to the button you think makes sense. In this menu, leave the Move assigned the Left Analog, since it just seems to work, change Look to Custom, and you'll see a bunch more input boxes appear below. Now, find the button that opens the menu from the controller (for me it was right bumper), go into Options -> Controller by using the controller. You'll be able to move around normally, but looking will be super â¥â¥â¥â¥â¥â¥ up. ![]() Now open the game, Load your save or start a new one. Launch game and enter Settings > General and enable VR animations. Download VR Enhancements and extract VREnhancements folder into SubnauticaQmods. They aren't mapped to Right Analog Stick, but they work reliably. Enables correct animations, audio and UI when playing in VR. This, for some reason, makes the Right Analog stick give the same inputs reliably. Then in "Override for Subnautica" select "Disable Steam Input". You'll see a little gear icon on the right, click that gear -> Properties. Go to your Steam Library, and open the page for the game. The 'target' of the file used to start the game is subnautica.exe in the game folder (the one with the peeper icon) - Ive got the oculus link software installed - which works fine with my No Mans Sky on steam in VR. Go to Steam -> Preferences -> Controllers and turn on Playstation or Xbox Controller Support, in here. Added Subnautica to steam as non steam game, gone to properties and enabled VR. Ok so, what worked for me, was first, plug in the controller. However, it's obviously super weird, but hopefully if you follow exactly what I did then this black magic will work on your computer too. I'm writing out EXACTLY what I did, that ended up solving it. Ok so it's May 2022 now, and I'm having this issue.
